Prolead: Youtube

Why Youtube?

Prolead wishes to improve one’s ability to be recognized as knowledgeable and valuable to their clients. Simply seeing a name and credentials may not be enough for people. Some seek proof with their eyes. This is by no means a bad thing. Especially in regards to sports where everyone’s body and ability to grow is different. The hope is to bring video-sharing platforms into the fold to help people prove their abilities. Youtube is the perfect fit for this desire.

Youtube can be considered the golden standard for video-sharing platforms. Unlike other platforms like instagram or tiktok that are primarily short form content videos, youtube dominates in long form content with youtube shorts being a great supplement.

Its history is long and has been a source of entertainment for many people young and old. Its user base is large and faithful due to youtube's impact on being a part of people's lives during their youth, and this continues on with the current youth.

With youtube, you don't have to simply rely on entertainment. Companies or people can use it for a variety of reasons. The common point for all of them is that it is a means to deliver information to a broad audience that you may have not had interactions with before. It allows for natural growth and new bonds to form. It is a skill that takes time to understand but a valuable asset once learned.

WHAT TO DO NEXT?

Youtube being known for long term content makes capitalizing on that the first priority. With training, the only logical conclusion would be to record and upload one's training sessions.

Now you don’t want to do every single session, otherwise why would they try to get in touch and work with you? What sessions, how many and the overall structure should be chosen by the trainer and trainee. But having something that can visually show what you bring to the table is a very good tactic.

We would recommend you post an early session, one of your first three, and at least another one a month later. This allows interested people to see the skill level of an athlete before meeting you and the improved changes over a period of time. Month long intervals often give a good time of either physical changes or skills changes in one’s abilities. However, you don’t have to do it every month. Maybe you simply want to post two sessions to give an idea of what training you’ll provide and its benefits.

With youtube shorts, it would be best to take clips or sections of the workout itself and isolate them for quick access and review. For example, if you're doing heavy weight training for a session, someone may check out a specific exercise that they have had difficulties with and wish to learn how to properly do them. It provides an ease of access that will be appreciated rather than having someone sit through a hour plus long session, attempting to find a specific section that appeals to them. They are also easily titled, so even if not actively searching, one would know what the clip entails and can decide whether or not to spend a short amount of time to check it out.

Outside of video and shorts, youtube also has a livestream feature. This may not be a choice many pick but the option remains available and it's important to understand its usage. With a trainer focusing on their athlete, they may not have the time or interest in engaging with a live audience. So the question may be, what is the difference between a live stream and a long video of an exercise? The answer is realness. With videos there will be some form of editing. You won’t show rest between sets of an exercise or exercises themselves. A situation in which you would, would be when discussion on how that exercise was completed and if it was satisfactory. With a livestream, audiences see it in full. They can get a better feel of the pressure and effort an athlete pushes themselves to be better. Although some may not speak to an audience, some coaches or athletes may. If they are resting between sets there is nothing wrong with a coach expounding on what he hopes to accomplish with the workout of the day. This extends to the athletes and them explaining how they’re feeling and what they can do better. Getting into the minds of these people would be an aspect that the audience can appreciate.
